Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Father in heaven, we worship and honour You for Your faithfulness. You are the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love You and keep Your commandments.

Yet for some of us Your faithfulness is hard to grasp because we have experienced unfaithfulness, rejection and abandonment with people. Perhaps a parent, spouse, trusted business partner or friend has turned away from us, walked out on us, or emotionally distanced themselves from us. We may question where You were in this. We doubt, have trouble trusting and feel faithless. Thank You that in these times when we are faithless, You remain faithful, for You cannot deny Yourself.

Perhaps people have given up on us because of our dysfunctional thinking and behaviours – our "-isms" and addictions. Perhaps we’ve given up on ourselves. Perhaps just when we thought we had overcome some negative habit it has crept back into our lives or pounced on us suddenly and we wonder if we have overstepped Your patience with us.

Yet we remember that Jesus said He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. So we confess all our failings and sins to You and thank You that You are faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Thank You for Jesus, the faithful witness of Your everlasting covenant of righteousness, justice, mercy, compassion, grace, forgiveness and love. Thank You that we have all these things by abiding in Him.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
