God Goes Before Us

And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

Father in heaven we delight and rest in the name Yahweh Shammah – Yaweh is There. We marvel that You revealed that name when Israel was rebellious and in captivity. Even then You were letting them know that You had not forsaken them. You were still there, both in the present and in their future.

We draw comfort from knowing that You are never caught out by events even though we may be. You are already there ahead of us.  You are going before us, clearing the path ahead for us, providing for us, or preparing us to go through the situation.

Perhaps we feel walled in right now, restricted by health, relationship, financial, employment or unemployment issues. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months and months into years and we see no glimmer of help or hope. There seems to be no way over, around or through the wall. We may wonder where You are. Have You forgotten us? Have You abandoned us? At these times remind us that You order our stops as much as our steps in life. When You seem to be doing nothing You are working in ways that we cannot see. You may be working something in us -refining our character, training us, preparing and positioning us for a future purpose.

In spite of our circumstances or feelings, we hold fast to Your promise that You are going before us. You are with us. You will never leave us nor forsake us.

Be it unto us according to Your word. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

Supporting Verses

The name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE (margin = YHWH Shammah). Ezekiel 48:35

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

Isaiah 43:2

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,

And my Lord has forgotten me.”

Can a woman forget her nursing child,

And not have compassion on the son of her womb?

Surely they may forget,

Yet I will not forget you.

See, I have inscribed you on the palm of My hands;

Your walls are continually before Me.

Isaiah 49:15-16

The steps of a good man are ordered (margin = established) by the LORD,

And He delights in his way.

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;

For the LORD upholds him with His hand.

Psalm 37:23-24
