God is Love

We have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in Him.

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in the world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:16-19

Father in heaven, so often we have looked for love in the wrong places. We give love to others expecting to receive it back. Hurts, resentments, bitterness, fear and unforgiveness build up when our expectations are not met. The truth is that we cannot truly love others out of our own resources. You are the only source of true love. We must receive love from You and let it flow out to others.

Please give us today a fresh revelation of Your love for us personally in spite of our flaws and failures. Thank You that You have promised to pour out Your love into our hearts and to cast out all fear. Thank You that Jesus died for us while we were still sinners, separated from You and self-seeking and self-serving. Help us to comprehend the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ and to be rooted and grounded in that love.

We praise and worship You for Your very nature is love.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Supporting Verses

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

For when we were without strength, in due time (margin = the right time) Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:5-8

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height -to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask and think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:17-21
