Death and Life in the Tongue

A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;

From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 18:20-21

Father in heaven, we acknowledge and worship You today for Your mercy, grace and love. Thank You that Your word, which spoke the worlds into existence, is available to us in the Bible today with creative power for all our needs.

Remind us that every word we speak has an outcome. When we complain we become powerless; when we express gratitude we bring life and blessing. Please reveal to us personally the words we speak which bring evil, cursing and death to our lives, our family, our marriages, our finances, our health and our work.

Open our eyes to see the blessings we have. Guard our lips and fill our mouths with faith filled, encouraging, wise and kind words. Oh, how we need Jesus to live His life out in us to do this!

We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
