Death and Life in the Tongue
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Father in heaven, we acknowledge and worship You today for Your mercy, grace and love. Thank You that Your word, which spoke the worlds into existence, is available to us in the Bible today with creative power for all our needs.
Remind us that every word we speak has an outcome. When we complain we become powerless; when we express gratitude we bring life and blessing. Please reveal to us personally the words we speak which bring evil, cursing and death to our lives, our family, our marriages, our finances, our health and our work.
Open our eyes to see the blessings we have. Guard our lips and fill our mouths with faith filled, encouraging, wise and kind words. Oh, how we need Jesus to live His life out in us to do this!
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil.......I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Deuteronomy 30:15,19
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:3
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.
Psalm 33:6, 9
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips.
Let no corrupt* word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification (margin = building up), that it may impart grace to the hearers. Ephesians 4:29
*Strong’s Greek Concordance #4550 rotten, i.e. worthless (literal or moral):-bad, corrupt.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. John 14:10
