God Pours His Love into Our Hearts

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time (Margin = the right time) Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:5-8

Father in heaven, thank You that You gave Your only begotten Son to die once for all our sins, past, present and future. This is proof of Your great love and value for each of us.

Please right now pour out Your love into our hearts and cast out all our fears – the fear of abandonment and rejection. Heal our broken hearts -the lonely waste spaces, the dark places, the festering wounds.

Shine the light of Your love and truth into the false beliefs and images of ourselves we have gathered up over the years- the beliefs that we are inadequate, ugly, stupid, failures, worthless, undeserving, hopeless and helpless. Heal any traumatic memories, generational tendencies and the roots of our obsessive, compulsive, impulsive and addictive behaviours.

Perhaps unforgiveness, a root of bitterness, is holding us back from the fulness of healing. Please give us the mind of Jesus to forgive others for without Him we can do nothing. Keep pouring Your love into our hearts until they overflow with Your very presence and Your love pours over onto and into all the people we live with, work with and encounter- especially the unloving, unlovable and the unloved.

We ask this in the merits of Jesus’ name. Be it unto us according to Your word. Thank You for this outpouring of love. AMEN
