God is the Way MakerThus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, Who brings forth the chariot and horse, The army and the power (They shall lie down together, they shall not rise; They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick): Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:16-19
Father in heaven, we praise and worship You today as our Way Maker. Thank You that You made a way for sinful man to come back into relationship with You through Your only begotten Son, Jesus. Thank You that Jesus knows the weight of our trials and temptations and overcame on our behalf. Perhaps at present we feel like we are drowning in a sea of difficulties, overwhelmed by acute or chronic health issues, the blackhole of depression or anxiety, housing, financial and employment needs, marriage problems or emotional, behavioural or learning challenges in our children whatever their age. Perhaps wherever we turn we find ourselves under attack, our efforts sabotaged, by fellow workers or even a family member. We are on hyperalert wondering when the next rejection, snide remark or angry tirade will come. Perhaps we feel lost in a vast wilderness, without direction, spiritually parched and hemmed in by the monotony of daily tasks. All our dreams, our hopes for the future, seem but a teasing mirage. Thank You that Jesus knows the way through all these things. Thank You for the example of the way You led Your people out of Egypt to the promised land. You opened up the sea to escape, overthrew their enemies and led and fed them in the desert for 40 years. We rest in the assurance that You are making a way through all our difficulties when we don’t see or feel this. You are faithful. You are our Way Maker. We pray in the name of Jesus who is our way, truth and life. Amen
Supporting Verses“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:1-6 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son Of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 No temptation* has overtaken you except as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:12 *Strong’s Greek Concordance # 3986 To make trial of, try, tempt. Trial, a trial, proof, a putting to the test. A state of trial in which God brings His people through adversity and affliction in order to encourage and prove their faith and confidence in Him.
