God Quiets Us With His Love

The LORD your God in your midst,

The Mighty One, will save;

He will rejoice over you with gladness,

He will quiet you with His love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

Father in heaven, we return to You right now. Our minds are filled with busyness, to do lists, niggling worries and accusing chatter. Please quiet us with Your love. Gather us close to Yourself as a nursing mother gathers her fussing baby to her breast and quietens him/her with comfort, love and nourishment.

We acknowledge You as El Shaddai – Power of the Many Breasted One – the Covenant name You gave to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph (Genesis 17:1; 28:3; 35:11; 48:3).You are the All-Sufficient One, more than enough, the One who gives Your own life to comfort and nurture us. How thankful we are that You gave of Yourself through Jesus who is the milk of the Word.

While You rejoice over us with singing, we rejoice in You with singing too:

I am rocked in the arms, I am rocked in the arms,

I am rocked in the arms of El Shaddai.

I am dandled on the knees, I am dandled on the knees,

I am dandled on the knees of El Shaddai.

I am suckled at the breast, I am suckled at the breast,

I am suckled at the breast of El Shaddai.

I am soothed by the words, I am soothed by the words,

I am soothed by the words of El Shaddai.

I am bathed in the smiles, I am bathed in the smiles,

I am bathed in the smiles of El Shaddai.

I look into the eyes, I look into the eyes,

I look into the eyes of El Shaddai.

I am quieted by the love, I am quieted by the love,

I am quieted by the love of El Shaddai.

 We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

For this says the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:

“In returning and rest you shall be saved;

In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”

Isaiah 30:15

The work of righteousness will be peace,

And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

My people shall dwell in a peaceful habitation,

In secure dwellings and in quiet resting places,

Though hail comes down on the forest,

And the city is brought low in humiliation.

Isaiah 32:17-19

“Rejoice with Jerusalem,

And be glad with her, all you who love her;

Rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn for her;

That you may feed and be satisfied

With the consolation of her bosom,

That you may drink deeply and be delighted

With the abundance of her glory.”

For thus says the LORD:

“Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,

And the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream.

Then you shall feed;

On her sides shall you be carried,

And be dandled on her knees.

As one whom his mother comforts,

So I will comfort you;

And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 66:10-13

Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,

Like a weaned child with his mother;

Like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Psalm 131:2

When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty* God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly.” Genesis 17:1-2
