Come for Rest

Come to Me, all you, who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Father in heaven, we come to You now just as we are, perhaps hesitantly and doubtful, weak in faith wondering if You truly exist even or that You will accept us.

Thank You that Jesus promised that He would not cast out anyone who comes to Him. We come to You only through His merits, resting in His ability to save us to the uttermost no matter how far or how often we have strayed all fallen from Your paths.

Thank You that though our sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.

We come heavy laden with the guilt and shame of our dysfunctions and brokenness, the hopelessness and failure of striving in our own strength, and the weight of our inability to change circumstances or others. We long for the rest that only Jesus can give us. We wait in Your presence for the peace that only He can give.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen

Supporting Verses

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. John 6:36

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which comes after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever. Hebrews 7:25-28

“Come now, and let us reason together,”

Says the LORD,

Though your sins are like scarlet,

They shall be as white as snow;

Though they are red like crimson,

They shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:18
