Truth Seeker 7: When Jesus Returns

WHEN JESUS RETURNS

At another time, another place - just prior to bearing our sins upon the cross of crucifixion and His soon return to Heaven - Jesus comforts His disciples with the assurance that at His second coming and their resurrection from death, He shall receive them unto Himself. He said:

1“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:1–3 (NKJV)

Jesus’ comforting words are also our comforting hope today, soon to become a living reality in the believing, truth seeker’s life.

16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.17Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 (NKJV)

51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55“O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 1 Corinthians 15:51–55 (NKJV)
