Jesus Our Redeemer -1

Doubtless You are our Father,
Though Abraham was ignorant of us,
And Israel does not acknowledge us.
You, O LORD, are our Father;
Our Redeemer* from Everlasting is Your name.
Isaiah 63:16

*Strongs Hebrew Concordance #1350, Go’el

To redeem (according to the Oriental law of kinship), i.e. to be the next of kin (and as such to buy back a relative’s property, marry his widow, etc.)…..

To redeem or act as a kinsman-redeemer. The word means to act as a redeemer for a deceased kinsman (Ruth 3:13); to redeem or buy back from bondage (Leviticus 25:48); to redeem or buy back a kinsman’s possessions (Leviticus 25:26); to avenge a kinsman’s murder (Numbers 35:19); to redeem an object through a payment. (Leviticus 17:13). Theologically, this word is used to convey  God’s redemption of individuals from spiritual death and His redemption of the nation of Israel from Egyptian bondage and also from exile (Exodus 6:6).

Father in heaven, we praise and worship Your name Go’el. From everlasting Your name is Go’el, Redeemer. Even before the foundation of the world and before man sinned, You were Go’el. You had a plan to bring us back home to You.

We acknowledge that we are Yours. We belong to You twice over. We belong to You both by creation and by redemption. You bought us back, ransomed us from the penalty and power of sin, through the life and precious blood of Your only Son, Christ Jesus.

How grateful we are that Jesus stepped down from heaven to visit us, not to be served but to serve, to become our Kinsman-Redeemer, our Brother, one of us in human flesh. We rejoice in the assurance that because You spared not Your own Son but delivered Him up for us all, we may know that You have freely given us all things in Him.

Thank You that every spiritual blessing in Jesus is ours. Thank You that we are holy and blameless in Him before You. Thank You that You have chosen us in Him to be Your sons and daughters. Thank You that we are accepted in Him. Thank You that, by the riches of Your grace, through His blood we have redemption and forgiveness of sins.

In Jesus’ name we rest and pray. Amen
