Jesus Our Redeemer -2 (Advocate)

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate* with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also the whole world.
1 John 2:1-2

Strong’s Greek Concordance #*3875 Parakletos; an intercessor, consoler: advocate, comforter.

Noun from parakaleo (3870), to comfort, encourage or exhort. One called upon to help.

(1)   An advocate, intercessor; one who pleads the cause of anyone before a judge.

(2)   A comforter, bestowing spiritual aid and consolation.

If you love Me, keep My commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper* (margin =Comforter, Gr. Parakletos), that He may abide with you forever-
The Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him, nor knows Him; but you know Him for He dwells with you and will be in you.’
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 14:15-18

Father in heaven, how grateful we are for Jesus our Redeemer, our Advocate, our Parakletos who comes along side to plead our cause when our adversary Satan seeks to devour us with his accusations.

We draw comfort from the knowledge that Jesus became one of us, a Man, our Near Kinsman (close relative), and understands the temptations and attacks of the devil. How grateful we are that He did not leave us orphans when He returned to heaven but dwells in us today through His Spirit.

We do not plead our works, our righteousness, but His perfect life, death, and resurrection as our qualification to represent us and our cause. So we shut our ears to the accusations of our adversary and declare that our Redeemer lives and we are His redeemed.

We praise and worship His and Your name. Amen

Supporting Verses

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan (Margin = the Adversary) standing at his right hand to oppose him.
And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the Angel.
Then He answered and spoke to those who stood before Him, saying, “Take away the filthy garments from him.” And to him He said, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with rich robes.”
And I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head, and they put the clothes on him. And the Angel of the LORD stood by.
Zechariah 3:1-5

Be sober (margin =self-controlled), be vigilant (margin = watchful); because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
1 Peter 5:8-9

Their Redeemer is strong;
The LORD of hosts is His name.
He will thoroughly plead their case,
That He may give rest to the land,
And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Jeremiah 50:34

Do not remove the ancient landmark (margin = boundary),
Nor enter the fields of the fatherless:
For their Redeemer is mighty;
He will plead their cause against you.
Proverbs 23:10-11

Plead my cause and redeem me;
Revive me according to Your word.
Psalm 119:154

For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;
And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God.
Job 19:25-26

Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
And gathered out of the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and the south.
