Prayer Solutions: Seek God's Face

Seek God's Face

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14

Father in heaven, how thankful we are that you are not a distant God. The truth is that before we seek You, You are seeking us, drawing us to Jesus.  You are longing for our company, scanning the horizon for our presence, turning your ear towards us to catch the slightest whisper or whimper.

Thank You for Jesus who has made the way for sinners to come into Your holy presence. Thank You that He has lived as a man to show us Your character.

We confess that often we have sought You for Your hand - things we want from You - rather than Your face and companionship. Yet You take pity on us.

So we come to You now just as we are. Perhaps our minds are buzzing with things that need to be done.  Perhaps our hearts are heavy with concerns for our loved ones or from broken relationships. Perhaps we are exhausted or in pain. Perhaps we are anxious about financial or work matters.  Whatever situation we are in, we run to You and seek the safety and comfort of Your arms. We hope in Your word and wait quietly for You to act.

In Jesus name we pray. Be it unto us according to Your word.

Supporting Verses

No one comes to Me unless the Father draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:44

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
John 14:9-10

Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
Psalm 105:3-4

Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me.
When you said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the LORD will take care of me.
Psalm 27:7-10

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope and wait quietly
For the salvation of the LORD.
Lamentations 3:25-26

Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:31-34
