Truth Seeker 14: Who is Satan?

WHO IS SATAN?

You may know Satan was once called Lucifer, the leading angel of the angelic host in God’s heavenly paradise. Serving in God’s universal government, highly exalted, Lucifer stood next to the Son of God in authority. Handsome in appearance, radiating with intellectual prowess, Lucifer was greatly admired by the angelic host. Multitudes of angels called cherubim and sephrim eagerly awaited Lucifer’s wise commands, as he ministered in the affairs of God’s ruling government.  But eventually idolizing in his own exceptional life, Lucifer’s mind becomes puffed up with self importance and the tentacles of pride begin to wrap around his life.

17“Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; … Ezekiel 28:17 (NKJV)

So much so that soon Lucifer entertains sinful surmising that he is entitled to rise in equality with God the Father and His only begotten son and enter into the divine council of the Godhead relationship.

Envy toward the Father’s only begotten Son begins to fester in Lucifer’s deluded mind, spawning blasphemous thoughts that he too is worthy to receive worship from the universal family.

But of course this evil covetousness could never become a living reality in Lucifer’s life for he is merely a created being of lower life himself. God the Father and his beloved Son are the divine creators of all universal life worthy of all honour, praise and worship.

4For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.

5For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens.

6Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

7Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength.

8Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

9Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth. Psalm 96:4–9 (NKJV)

Nevertheless entangled in his own web of deceit Lucifer determines in his mind to rise above his appointed position and become like God, a god in his own right.

12“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Isaiah 14:12–14 (NKJV)
